JAYALAKSHMI

JAYALAKSHMI,whom  hereafter I shall call by the name J was the grand daughter of

Venkatarama Ganapadgal, a close friend and  adviser of  K T V.     who lived in the opposite row in close quarters in Big street  Kalakad J died a few days back ,which prompted me to write this  memoir about her.'As a small girl of the street ,in her briskness and bright face with broad smile ,and addead tone she used to attract the attention of one and all at least in our area. She used to come to our house and move with one and all

J's  father one Subiah Iyer  was working in Aruppukkottai in a hotel. For practical purposes KTV was the custodian of the family  .,her grandfather having died long back. Her  father wanted to settle her marriage early; One day the father came with a number of horoscopes to match with J's..and approached KTV to help ..KTV selected two or three for further scutiny and asked him not to fix until his return from Thirunelveli to which  he was rushing at that time. However, the ancious  father fixed her marrige with one among the three givng no chance for further scrutiny of any of these horoscopes. This resulted in seven long years of  agony and havoc for J immediately after her marriage.

In what way?        In  most families the  mother in law alone used to terrorise. It was not that here.Additionally there were. a widowed  sister in law as well as an un married  brother in law who actively engaged in seeing that the couple were never together. No communication for more than two contineous years to the girl's side.Of course ,the husband of J was good but helpless aas usual. Now KTV scrutinised the particular horoscope and found the flaw. His assessment was that she has to suffer for 5 more years.

The ancious father went with a number of men in support to her house. It was a hot Summer.Imagine what would have beem the feeling of  the unfortunate father to see his own daughter under a shadeless tree with not enough covers to protect from the hot Sun !

As if  in a cine show ,after consequent verbal spats the men all overpowered to pick her from the shrubs in a vegetative condition and brought her to Kalakad..By God's grace ,  her health was restored under the parental care of her Mother and Periyamma,  Parvatham mami..The father continued to work in Aruppukkottai and though he was visiting Kalakad to see his daughter  he avoided meeting KTV , perhaps feeling ashamed.

But J used to visit our house as usual.KTV asked  her always to sit in His presence and asked to recite

some slokas   .He asked her to write letters to her husband. Loving wife to loving husband  The husband also was writing in response. At a certain stage, the matter went to the court. All these letters also were produced in the court. The court gave the judgement that the husband should stay with the wife and there should be no further interference in their family life .The husband stayed in Kalakad and began to work in Nagerkoil, they got a daughter and a son.

THIS IS ONE OF MANY CASES WHRE HE HAS ADVISED PEOPLE NOT TO HURRY BUT THEY HAVE HURRIED TO LAND IN TROUBLE.
